Strange-Martin currently serves as dean and professor of the College of Education at Alabama State University, where she has served since 2021 and holds tenure. In that role, she oversees three academic units and 47 majors, manages a budget of nearly $5 million, and provides leadership for accreditation, faculty evaluation, academic programming, enrollment, fundraising, and external partnerships. She has also expanded online and hybrid academic offerings and developed initiatives addressing teacher preparation, literacy, student advising and the recruitment and retention of Black male educators.

She previously served as dean of the School of Education and distinguished professor at Trinity Washington University, where she was a member of the president’s senior executive cabinet and chief academic officer of the School of Education. Prior to Trinity, she served as dean and professor of the School of Education at Claflin University. Her higher education career also includes administrative and faculty positions at Barry University, Chicago State University and Delaware Technical Community College.

Strange-Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in English, graduating cum laude from Fort Valley State University, where she also earned a master’s degree in middle grades education with concentrations in English and social studies. She earned a doctorate in curriculum, instruction, and technology in education, with a focus on language arts and literacy studies, from Temple University in 2001. Her academic and administrative career has focused extensively on teacher preparation, literacy, accreditation, curriculum development, and expanding pathways into the teaching profession. She has led and participated in grant-funded initiatives supporting teacher recruitment and retention, including efforts focused on increasing minority male participation in educator preparation programs. Strange-Martin is also a published scholar and author whose research has explored literacy, culturally responsive education, language diversity, and the educational experiences of African American students.

Executive Director, Institute of Excellence for Transformation Empathy and Professor, History and Interdisciplinary Studies, Norfolk State University (VA)

Fulton currently serves as executive director of the Institute of Excellence for Transformational Empathy at Norfolk State University in Virginia, following service as special assistant to the president in 2025. She previously served for five years as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Norfolk State, where she was the university’s chief academic officer with responsibility for the institution’s academic enterprise, including five colleges and schools, graduate studies and research, the honors college, public radio, academic centers and institutes, and a $139 million budget. She previously served for eight years as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Downtown and held several leadership positions at the University of Alabama, including founding chair of the Department of Gender and Race Studies and director of the African American Studies Program.

Fulton earned a bachelor’s degree in English, summa cum laude, from Wayne State University and a doctorate in American studies from the University of Minnesota, with concentrations in African American literature, women’s studies, and oral discourse analysis. She later earned a master’s degree in religion from Union Theological Seminary, concentrating in religion and the Black experience. Her administrative career has included extensive work in academic affairs, strategic planning, fiscal management, faculty governance, research, student success, and institutional partnerships. As provost at Norfolk State, she helped cultivate more than $50 million in gifts, supported faculty and staff in securing more than $75 million in grants, and established partnerships and academic initiatives in areas including public health, semiconductor technology, cybersecurity, graduate education, and international education.

Fulton is also a published scholar whose work has focused on African American literature, Black women’s experiences, oral traditions, race, gender, and culture. Her academic career includes faculty appointments at Norfolk State, the University of Houston-Downtown, the University of Alabama, Arizona State University, the University of Memphis, and Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as international teaching experience in Ethiopia. She has also held national higher education leadership roles and was selected as a 2026 Fulbright U.S. Scholar through the HBCU International Education Administrators Program.

Interim Provost & Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Fayetteville State University (NC)

Brown currently serves as associate vice chancellor for academic and faculty affairs at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and served as interim provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs in 2026. In that role, she served as the university’s chief academic officer, overseeing academic operations, faculty affairs, policy development, strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and accreditation. She previously served as dean and associate professor of the College of Media and Mass Communication at American University in the Emirates in Dubai and as vice president for academic affairs at Great Basin College in Nevada. Her higher education leadership experience also includes administrative and faculty positions at Palo Verde College, Medaille University, SUNY Empire State College, Ashland University, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Brown earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in speech communication from California State University, Fresno, and a doctorate in interpersonal communication and media studies from the University of Georgia. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in higher education administration from Texas Tech University, with anticipated completion in fall 2027. Her academic and administrative career spans more than two decades and includes leadership in strategic planning, academic program development and review, faculty development, student retention, accreditation, and workforce alignment. Brown is also a published scholar whose work has examined communication, race, media, leadership, and the experiences of women of color, and she has co-authored or co-edited several books in those areas.

Professor of Business Administration and Senior Director for AI Initiatives, Jackson State University

Mosley currently serves as professor of business administration and senior director for AI initiatives at Jackson State University in Mississippi, where she leads institutional strategy for artificial intelligence adoption and innovation. She previously served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Jackson State from 2020 to 2024, providing leadership for five colleges, graduate studies, online education, the Honors College, global programs, and student success. As provost, she oversaw more than 90 degree and certificate programs and administered a $50 million annual academic operating budget.

Prior to returning to Jackson State, Mosley spent eight years in academic leadership at Tennessee State University, an 1890 land grant HBCU, serving first as associate vice president for academic affairs and later as interim vice president for academic affairs. In those roles, she oversaw academic operations, faculty evaluation, accreditation, strategic planning and academic program development and administered a $63.8 million annual academic operating budget. Her work included developing joint academic programs with other state institutions, leading multi-institutional initiatives and serving as co-principal investigator for the NSF funded Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation.

Mosley earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from Florida A&M University and a doctorate in business administration from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Her higher education career spans more than 25 years and includes extensive experience in academic administration, accreditation, strategic planning, faculty development, student success, institutional effectiveness, fundraising, and external partnerships. At Jackson State, she helped develop the university’s strategic plan, launched new academic programs in areas including supply chain management and public health, secured significant federal and philanthropic support, and led the university’s decennial SACSCOC reaffirmation.

Mosley is also a published scholar in business and management and has developed a growing national profile around artificial intelligence and innovation in higher education. Her academic career has been centered primarily at Jackson State and Tennessee State, giving her extensive experience within HBCU environments and public higher education.
