We’re Hiring: Dir of Research and Sponsored Programs
Welcome
Welcome to the Division of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (RIED) at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
At UAPB, research is more than an academic function. It is a strategic driver of institutional growth, community impact, and economic advancement. As an 1890 Land-Grant institution, we are uniquely positioned to integrate research, teaching, and extension in ways that directly address the needs of Arkansas, the Delta region, and beyond.
Today, RIED serves as the central hub for sponsored programs, innovation, and strategic partnerships across the university. We support the full lifecycle of research, from concept development to proposal submission to project execution, while fostering a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that empowers faculty, staff, and students to pursue impactful work.
UAPB stands as a premier 1890 land-grant research engine—uniquely positioned to lead transformative research, innovation, and economic advancement across the Arkansas Delta and the broader multi-state rural landscape. With a growing research portfolio and expanding partnerships, we are building the infrastructure, talent, and systems necessary to elevate our national research profile.
Where We Are Headed
The Division of Research, Innovation and Economic Development is leading UAPB’s strategic efforts to significantly expand its research enterprise and position the university for Carnegie R2 (High Research Activity) classification.
Through increased sponsored research activity, strengthened research infrastructure, and intentional investment in faculty and student success, we are advancing a bold vision: to become a nationally recognized, mission-driven research institution that delivers measurable impact.
Our areas of strength, including agricultural, aquaculture and fisheries, health and human sciences, industrial technology, management and applied engineering, addiction studies and education, reflect both our legacy and our future. These focus areas align with state and federal priorities and position UAPB to compete for larger-scale, transformative funding opportunities.
