Meet Our Interim Chair
Dr. John Foster has been with UAPB since 2007, when he began as an Assistant Professor of Sociology. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota and his graduate studies at the University of Florida. Dr. Foster teaches classes for the Social Sciences program (Sociology track), including Social Problems, Race and Ethnic Relations, and Sociological Theory. His research interests include race, theory, gender, and social stratification. He has published numerous research reports and articles, as well as a book called White Race Discourse: Preserving Racial Privilege in a Post-Racial Society (Lexington Books, 2013). Dr. Foster’s professional memberships include the American Sociological Association and the Society for the Study of Social Problems. He has served as interim department chair since 2025.
