The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has launched The Next Roar: Advancing UAPB through Strategic Alignment and Sustainability, a process to help strengthen and position the institution for the future while continuing to serve students, families, and communities with excellence and purpose.
Like many colleges and universities across the country, UAPB is facing enrollment challenges, rising operational costs, changing workforce demands, and increasing expectations around student success and institutional accountability. Those realities have created financial and operational pressures that require the University to take a thoughtful and honest look at how resources, operations, and academic programs are aligned to support long-term sustainability and student outcomes. Throughout the process, UAPB will remain focused on student success, responsible stewardship, transparency, and preserving the long-term strength of the institution.
There are two phases. Phase I focuses on administrative alignment, including organizational structure, operational efficiency, vacancy management, and resource alignment. Phase II will focus on academic alignment and sustainability, including evaluation of academic offerings, workforce alignment, instructional effectiveness, student success outcomes, and long-term academic planning.
The University has formally notified the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees of its intent to begin this work. Recommendations from Phase II may ultimately require Board review and approval.
UAPB is committed to conducting this process with transparency, thoughtful engagement, and a focus on long-term institutional strength. Updates and additional information will be available throughout the process at uapb.edu/thenextroar.
