UAPB At a Glance

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is a Historically Black University and an 1890 Land Grant Institution.  It serves a diverse student body of over 2,380 graduate and undergraduate students.  Over the past several years, students have enrolled at the institution from 40 different countries.  The University offers 31 baccalaureate, 12 master’s, and one PhD degree across a broad spectrum of subject areas. The faculty is the most racially and ethnically diverse of any public institution in the state of Arkansas; 62.4% are African-American, 21.0% are Asian-American;  0.6% are Hispanic/Latino; 2.5% are Native Hawaiian; 0.6% are two or more races; and 12.7% are Caucasian-American (European descent), representing 18 different countries.

Accreditation

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.  It has program accreditation by the National Association for Schools of Music (NASM), American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).  The institution is a member of the American Council on Education, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, Association of American Colleges, National Collegiate Honors Council, and the Council on Social Work Education.   All degree programs at the University are approved by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.

  • The 2022 first-year (fall-to-fall) retention rates for the fall 2021 cohort class of first-time full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students is 58.9%

  • Student Diversity:  Fall 2022 student enrollment totaled 2,387; by race/ethnicity 0.5% are American Indian, 0.4% are Asian, 88.9% are Black, 0.1% are Native Hawaiian; 2.4% are Hispanic, 2.4% are Nonresident Alien (International), 3.2% are White, and 2.0% are two or more races; by gender 56% are female and 44% are male.

  • Undergraduate and graduate degrees were conferred to 391 students in Academic Year 2021-22: by race/ethnicity 0.3% are American Indian; 0.8% are Asian, 86.7% are Black, 2.6% are Hispanic, 4.3% are Nonresident Alien (International), 4.3% are White, and 1.0% are two or more races;  by gender 64.5% are female and 35.5% are male.

Athletic Program Participation Rates and Financial Support Data

Athletic Program Participation Rates and Financial Support Data.  Pursuant to 34 CFR 668.41(a) “Athletically related student aid” athletically related student aid means any scholarship, grant, or other form of financial assistance, offered by an institution, the terms of which require the recipient to participate in a program of intercollegiate athletics at the institution. Other student aid, of which a student-athlete simply happens to be the recipient, is not athletically related student aid.  Additional Information is available at this link:
