The chancellor search for UAPB begins with the application/inquiry phase. During this period, the UA System is seeking applications, nominations and inquiries from individuals who are interested in the position. With the help of the nationally reputable search firm, AGB Search, the system is conducting a national search for potential candidates. The deadline for applications is December 3, 2024. Following the deadline, the system will seek advice from the advisory committee to determine the most qualified and well-suited candidates for the position. During the Spring semester, the UA System President will invite a group of finalists for campus/community visits, including meetings with the university’s broad constituency groups, with the goal of determining the best fit to be the next UAPB chancellor.
All UA System campus chancellors are ultimately chosen by the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas upon recommendation of the UA System President.
The advisory search committee was appointed by UA System President Donald R. Bobbitt with input from members of the university and Pine Bluff communities.
Yes, each advisory committee member represents a constituency group of the university with broad representation of faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
The advisory committee’s role is to advise the UA System President throughout the process leading to the selection of a nominee to serve as the next chancellor of UAPB.
This chancellor search web page provides a repository of information on the chancellor search. The position prospectus provides information on the position and the qualities and qualifications that have been identified as desirable in candidates. As the search moves forward, this page will be updated to provide additional information. When finalists are selected, a public announcement will be made with full information on each finalist, as well as information for the campus community to participate in the campus visits.
Yes, during the finalist stage, input will be sought from the UAPB community following the campus visits. Additionally, UAPB community members are encouraged to contact AGB Search to nominate candidates during the application/inquiry phase. The selection of finalists and an ultimate recommendation of a nominee to serve as the next chancellor of UAPB is the responsibility of the UA System President. Throughout the process, the President will solicit advice and input from the advisory search committee and the campus community.
The role of the search firm is to assist the advisory committee and the UA System President in building a strong pool of candidates to consider for the position. The firm, AGB Search, has broad experience in conducting higher education leadership searches, including experience with other HBCUs. The firm will work through its network of contacts, as well as through a broad advertising campaign to build the highest quality candidate pool possible for the position.
