Hello and welcome from the Psychology Program Coordinators!
The success of our students is a priority to us at UAPB. We strive to provide a top-notch educational experience, as evidenced by our constantly growing and evolving program. We are proud to note our many accomplishments over the last year.
First, our program has added three new courses to the curriculum: Human Psychophysiology, Stress, Health, & Disease, and Advanced Social Psychology. With these new courses we are able to provide more variety in learning and also provide increased exposure to the vast and exciting field of psychology.
Next, we are proud to have established the Social and Behavioral Science Speaker Series here on campus. Over the last year, we had many great speakers from our department as well as from collaborating institutions. These have ranged from research presentations, to technology software training, to career planning. We look forward to our next round of speakers.
We have also expanded career and graduate school preparation within our program. Our students are more involved than ever in conducting research, presenting their findings, and attending conferences. In addition, a series of workshops is offered on all the aspects of gaining entrance into graduate school, such as finding schools that fit, GRE preparation, getting stellar letters of recommendation, creating a curriculum vitae, and drafting a personal statement.
Perhaps most noteworthy is the new Human Psychophysiology Laboratory, opening its doors in the fall of 2015.This is an impressive addition to our program. This lab allows students to get beyond the classroom and gain hands-on research experience with state-of the-art equipment.
We look forward to more positive growth in our program, and the growth of our students right along with it.
Go Lions!
