About
Dean’s Welcome
It is with great honor to serve as Interim Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences, the largest school at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).
Since joining the UAPB family as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry, I have witnessed the growth of the school, not only in enrollment of students, but also programs, faculty and infrastructure. With excellent mentorship and an envisioned future that I could not comprehend at the time, I have seen my growth as an instructor, scholar, colleague, parent, mentor and administrator.
Under the guidance of the late Dr. William Willingham, former Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, my first proposal received funding. Moreover, I have thrived in many areas because of the excellent collaborations I have had with colleagues in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, across the UAPB campus, nationally and internationally.
I previously served UAPB as the Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry and Physics; however, I am delighted for my new leadership role. Our school is poised for remarkable influence and impact as we embody our mission of “providing and maintaining an environment that is conducive for excellence in teaching and learning in the Arts, Languages, Literature, Mass Communications, Nursing, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Natural and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology.”
Many thanks go to my predecessor-Dr. Andrea Stewart, Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, for all she has done for the School of Arts and Sciences to help make the School of Arts and Sciences the wonderful place that it is.
Please, be proactive in being part of the “Pride,” by not only contributing, but also reaching out to the community for the intensive endeavor in recruiting to increase our student enrollment. Forthcoming, the School of Arts and Sciences will be launching “Monthly Periodicals,” along with pages on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. These new initiatives will highlight to the community the news, innovative research publications, auditions, and presentations from our diverse student and faculty in the school.
As we look to the future, I want to give thanks to all of you as we write the next chapter together!
Join the UAPB School of Arts and Sciences where we Take Pride in shaping your future!
