Welcome!

Welcome to the Department of Business Administration. We are the largest unit within the School of Business & Management. Our program awards students a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with concentrations available in one of the following areas: 1) Business Technology, 2) Management, 3) Finance, 4) Marketing, 5) Economics, 6) International Business, and 7) Entrepreneurship.

All organizations need employees who are equipped to understand business organization and the various aspects of business management. This makes degrees in Business Administration of the most marketable and in-demand undergraduate degrees.

Program Requirements
Students in this department are subject to the general university requirements for all students pursuing a degree at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. All students, excluding those with a concentration in Business Technology Education, must have a minimum cumulative 2.00 GPA and a minimum C grade in major core courses to graduate. Students with a concentration in Business Technology Education must maintain a 2.5 GPA. For the degree, students must complete all requirements outlined on a SBM program of study; pass the English Proficiency Exam and meet all minimum institutional requirements.

Specializations & Degree Plans
Business Technology
Teaching is among the most important professions in the world today. There is a critical need for individuals with compassion and a love for service to humanity. There is a critical need for more teachers in business to provide the leadership with compassion to assist in the guidance and training of those youth enrolled in high schools across the country inspiring to pursue careers in a wide range of business-oriented professions. Graduates with degrees in Business Education have acquired the expertise needed to become competent teachers of commercial classes at the secondary level across the country. There is a critical need for more individuals who enjoy working with youth to pursue careers in teaching. The Business Education curriculum includes all courses required to meet the requirements for certification for teachers in Arkansas. Someone has stated that “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” Become a teacher!

Finance
Finance covers all aspects of acquisition, administration, and management of money. This will prepare students for careers in banking investments, financial analysis, stock brokerage, and insurance.

Management
Management trains the student in areas ranging from the aspects of managing people to the techniques used in managing resources. Management graduates obtain positions in personnel management, operations research, inventory control and logistics.

Marketing
Marketing provides the student with an understanding of marketing strategies that organizations use to sell their products. A concentration in marketing prepares graduates for careers in sales, advertising, marketing research, wholesaling, and retailing.
