Title III Support
The Title III Program is a United States federal grant program aimed at improving education. It began as part of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which sought to provide support to strengthen various aspects of schools through a formula grant program to accredited, legally authorized Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) under the Department of Education.
Enhancing the Department of Art & Design Classroom Facilities
- The Title III grant allowed for the purchase of hardware, software and peripheral equipment to enhance the teaching and learning process.
- Title III grant has enabled the Department of Art & Design to upgrade the computer lab with the latest Apple iMac computers and Adobe software, which can give the students the skills they need to enhance their educational experience and to compete in the job market.
- The equipment purchased through the Title III program is used to ensure students in the Department of Art & Design are well-prepared for the job market or further study in graduate school. The presence of up-to-date equipment can also help the department to attract new students. It also assists with meeting National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) accreditation requirements and strengthens faculty and curriculum development.
The upgraded computer lab was paid for in total or in part by funding from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education, Institutional Services Program, Title III Part B Strengthening Historically Black Colleges & Universities Program or Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act.
